Saturday the 7th of April saw the yearly Jolly Boys party. They have been raising money for the Scottish autism charity. I had the pleasure of performing at it. Over the last few weeks I pulled together a 30 minute acoustic show.
I was on at 8.30pm and started the show with a cover of Bryan Adams "Cuts Like A Knife". It was a great opener for the crowd that were there as I got the feeling they liked the 80's rock songs. Overall it was a successful gig for me. I put in a lot of practice for it and i feel that prepared me well to just get out and do it. Practice makes perfect as they say. Closing the show was the Jimi Anderson Band and I would highly recommend that everyone checks them out. They are excellent players, everyone of them and Jimi the signer is sensational

On Sat the 7th of April, I will be playing a set of acoustic covers for the social group The Jolly Boys.
I have pulled together some of the songs I have played for a while but also some that I have wanted to cover for a while. Attached is a copy of the proposed set list. I will be playing a 30-minute set so I will not get a chance to complete the list of songs. I'm looking forward to doing Maniac by Michael Sembello. This song has been challenging for me in the original key. I thought about transposing it down however it didn't sound right so instead I have been doing exercises to strengthen my range. I will be doing a review of the gig afterwards. |
